ANAHEIM, Calif. -- As promised on the KevinIole.com YouTube channel, UFC CEO Dana White announced the main event of UFC 300 following the completion of UFC 298 at The Honda Center Saturday, and it is a doozy.
White announced that the main event of UFC 300 on April 13 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas will be a light heavyweight title bout between champion Alex Pereira and former champion Jamahal Hill. White said there is one bout still to make on the card. He said Saturday the women's strawweight title bout between Zhang Weili and Yan Xiaonan will serve as the co-main event.
White said at the UFC 298 post-fight news conference that former UFC featherweight/lightweight champion Conor McGregor was never seriously considered. He said welterweight champion Leon Edwards had accepted three different opponents, whom he wouldn't name, but said none of them came to fruition. He praised Edwards for accepting each opponent without complaint.
However, he said Edwards won't fight at UFC 300 and said he's unsure of whom he'll make his next defense.
